Building Music from Scratch with Fulu Miziki

No band can pretend to live up to the sentence “Making music from scratch” like Fulu Miziki does. The Congolese formation builds unique instruments and outrageous outfits from trash picked up in the streets of Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of the Congo’s capital city. They create galvanizing performances, which leaves both musicologists and neophytes floored.

Never shying away from opportunities to share their craft, they invited us to a workshop where we helped and watched them build the set they would use the next day, for Nuits sonores 2021’s programme.
